Top tips for gerbils?

Some stuff to know is to never use chip shavings and really not saw dust either since they have highly sensitive noses and usually get allergies and stuff from that it is alsobharmful to their respitory system and can kill them. use carefresh natural or another type of paper bedding. also, never have just one gerbil since they MUST live in pairs or groups. gerbil and hamster feed are basically the same thing but you want to take out all the sunflower seeds from the mix since its high in fat and eating it everyday isnt healthy. they can be given a couple of sunflower seeds maybe 2-3 times a week at the most. hand taming is also important so make sure to pick up and play with the gerbils about 2 to 3 times a day if not more. never pick up a gerb by its tail. as far as cages go, a 10 gal tank is best with 3-4 inches of bedding at the bottom since they love to dig! make sure they always have chew toys and a shelter for them in the cage. exercise is important so you should get a rolly ball and put them in it.
